Tach is off, who tin can recalibrate?
I recently bought a super cub and the tach reads college than what the motor is truly running. This night we placed a tach that counts prop blades on the dash and compared it to the i in the plane and had a departure of 350rpm. Installed tach read 2700 and the portable tach read 2300-2350Who practise you know that could recalibrate accurately it and get it back to the states speedily?
Is recalibrating the best route?

What'southward the difference whether I remove the tach for repair at an automotive store and reinstall information technology or go pull one off the shelf/out of a panel for installation? I'g signing that I have checked the unit for proper and safe operation.Originally Posted by Charlie Longley
The paragraph you cited from Part 65.81 just says I tin can't perform an instrument repair. If a fed questions me about my tach repair sign off, I will point out that the repair was washed at a store equipped to do those repairs and that I signed off that I checked the tach for safety and proper operation. In that location are no repair stations that I'chiliad aware of that still work on these (but similar the oil pressure, oil temp, and ammeter cluster in Cessnas). The failure of a mechanical tach is not a rubber of flight issue. Checking for right operation of a tach requires no specialized or not standard equipment.
So how is this whatsoever different than signing off a repair weld that I or a not A&P welder didn't perform? What reg?
